At 2:44 p.m., Charlotte County Fire & EMS responded to a vehicle fire on I-75 northbound near mile marker 151 after reports of a white sedan on fire. As Engine 7 was responding, crews could see a visible column of smoke.

Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully involved and had ignited a nearby grass fire. Crews quickly extinguished both the vehicle fire and an approximately quarter-acre brush fire caused by the incident.

I-75 northbound was temporarily shut down and has since reopened. There were no injuries.

Regular vehicle maintenance can help prevent fires. Address fluid leaks promptly, keep your engine clean, and have warning lights checked right away.

Responding units: Engine 7, Engine 6 and Battalion 1
