Sarasota: Portable Library Opens During Fruitville Library Renovations

Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources has opened a portable library at 100 Apex Rd. in Sarasota to provide continued service while the Fruitville Library undergoes renovations.
As previously announced, the library temporarily closed on Dec. 18, 2025, for the construction of the new county History Center and expansion of the existing library. The library is expected to reopen in 2026.
Portable library hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday – Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
Services at the portable library include holds pickup, access to a selected browsing collection and account assistance. Curbside service is also available by calling 941-861-2512.
