Man caught buying diesel on the Suncoast with a stolen credit card

The man caught on camera purchasing 44 gallons of diesel using a stolen credit card at Walmart on Cortez Road on October 17 has been ID’d and arrested – after being caught in the act committing the same crime at the same location!

 

Detective Scanlan was following up on the case at Walmart when employees alerted him that the truck was at the gas pumps. After watching the suspect fill up with $150 worth of diesel, Detective Scanlan pulled him over. He arrested Sergio Gonzalez-Chinque after determining he’d used a stolen credit card number to pay for the fuel he’d just purchased – which, by the way, was a different stolen credit card number than the one used on October 17.

 

Gonzalez-Chinque faces two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and two counts of petty theft. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are likely. Guess his days of crime are… out of gas.
