Charlotte County man facing numerous charges of child pornography possession

This morning, detectives with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit arrested the pictured individual, Robert Wesley Bustard (7/28/1948) on nearly a dozen counts of possession of child pornography.

The investigation stemmed from cyber tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Detectives executed a search warrant at his residence in Punta Gorda Isles and located the material on his laptop computer. Bustard is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.

“Possessing, creating, or sharing this material is a sickening crime, and there is no place for it in Charlotte County. Thank you to my detectives, who unfortunately are tasked with conducting these stomach-turning investigations. I would think we have made it clear by now that anyone in Charlotte County who engages in this material will be held accountable.”
