Francesco Abbruzzino, The Uncensored Report, LLC
Sarasota County
Join us Friday, Sept. 5, starting at 9 a.m. at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, for an in-person workshop with the newly formed Sarasota County Stormwater department authorized by the Board of County Commissioners in July 2025.
Presentations will be given by the Stormwater Director, Ben Quartermaine, who joins the county with nearly 30 years of stormwater experience. Quartermaine will present on stormwater maintenance efforts, including an update on current activities and a discussion of the proposed stormwater rate for Fiscal Year 2026.
Sarasota County consultant, Steve Suau, P.E., Engineering and Consulting, LLC, will present on the Stormwater Consultant Report Tasks 1, 2 and 3.
The county has also increased the number of crews performing stormwater maintenance to improve system function. It has completed more than 4,000 tasks, including pipe cleaning and repairs eliminating the maintenance backlog that existed prior to June 1, 2025.
These workshops are part of Sarasota County’s broader commitment to transparency, community engagement and proactive management of stormwater systems ahead of the storm season.
