Stand Up or Surrender: Will the City Council uphold their previous decision, or betray the neighborhoods of northeast Venice?

A spokesperson from Venice Thrives will make a statement against the proposed mediated settlement agreement for the Vistera development in northeast Venice at next week’s City Council meeting.
The Vistera request for increased density was denied in 2024 because it was found to be incompatible with three sections of the Land Development Code, and it will be before the council again on Tuesday.
Northeast Venice is experiencing intense development pressure, as is clearly indicated in the attached map. Not pictured in the map are large planned commercial developments including a Wal-Mart, Home Depot, a self-storage building, and others. The increase in traffic, safety concerns, noise, air pollution, stormwater runoff, and other issues related to overdevelopment are detrimental to the northeast Venice residents’ quality of life, and these residents have strongly demonstrated their opposition to poorly planned, unsustainable proposals in the past.
