From Monday, July 14 through Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Sarasota Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee for a week-long speed and aggressive driving enforcement campaign.
This morning the event kicked on with a Press Conference hosted by the Florida Highway Patrol Troop F in Ft. Myers , Florida.
This multi-state initiative, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is focused on reducing crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities caused by speeding and aggressive driving.
We’re kicking off the campaign with multi-agency press events across Florida at 10:00 AM on July 14, coordinated within each FDOT district.
Chief Rex Troche shared,
“Our mission is to lower the number of serious injury and fatal crashes in our city. While Operation Southern Slow Down lasts just one week, our commitment to traffic safety continues every single day. We will not stop working to make Sarasota’s roads safer for everyone.”
Speeding isn’t just dangerous — it’s deadly.
Slow down. Drive responsibly. You’ve been warned.
