Boat fire extinguished in Turtle Bay on Saturday morning – GC News

Today (July 26), at 9:35 a.m., a coordinated Marine Emergency Response Team (MERT) activation was launched for a vessel fire in Turtle Bay.
Charlotte County Marine 1 arrived to find a 20–24 foot recreational fishing vessel fully engulfed and began suppression efforts with support from Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District Marine 156. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. The Boca Grande Fire Department transported one individual to their station for evaluation for a suspected minor burn injury.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Unit remained on scene to secure the area, identify the vessel’s owner, and coordinate with MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife who is conducting the investigation.
