Just in time to make space for the holidays, the Department of Public Works is hosting an additional Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event on Saturday, Dec. 14. Drop-off is set from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Public Works facility, 1850 W. Price Blvd.
We were thrilled by the overwhelming response at the HHW event in October and on that day we reached capacity quickly, which forced us to close early. We heard you, and City teams have developed a new event layout to manage more patrons. Please take a look at the map below to see the updated route.
Accepted items: Pool chemicals, pesticides, paint, chemical cleaning products, fertilizers, automotive products, batteries, household fire extinguishers, propane cylinders (BBQ size), fluorescent bulbs, solvents, adhesives and glues, tires, unwanted medication and sharps (place in rigid, puncture resistant, leak proof containers).
Items not accepted: Garbage, appliances, yard waste, ammunition, fireworks/flares or hurricane debris.
You also can drop-off unwanted medication 24/7 at North Port Police Department, 4980 City Hall Blvd., and sharps at any North Port Fire Rescue station without waiting in the HHW line. Please ensure the sharps are in a secure, approved container for safe handling.
We understand the importance with this event and the value of your time. We are working diligently to ensure this event runs smoothly.
