Englewood: Patient Being Treated at Local Hospital with Gunshot Wound – Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office

At approximately 5:30 am on May 27, 2024, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local hospital in reference to a patient who came in with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Both the Crime Scene Unit and detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are currently investigating the incident which is believed to have occurred near the 12000 block of Willmington Boulevard.
Based on the initial facts, this is believed to be an isolated incident that poses no threat to the public.
“Until we have determined what actually happened that resulted in this individual suffering a gunshot wound, I want to caution our community on jumping to conclusions or judgement. My detectives are already investigating, and we will update you at a later time if there is information that can be shared. As always, I want to thank the community for their understanding and emphasize that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
