Englewood:  Armed robbery suspect captured after attempting to flee

At approximately 12:30pm today, April 18, 2024, Charlotte County deputies responded to a call in reference to an armed robbery at Dollar General in Englewood. Deputies identified the suspect vehicle and the suspect attempted to flee in that vehicle. Due to the nature of the crime, our deputies gave chase. The suspect attempted to ram one of the deputy vehicles with his own, but the deputy was able to avoid the collision.

After a short chase, the suspect did come to a stop in the area of Piney Ct. and Treadway Rd. and eventually complied with deputy commands, giving himself up without further incident.

We are thankful to report that there have been no reports of injury, either from the robbery or as a result of the chase.
