CCSO

Earlier this month, The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Unit teamed with the Florida Department of Corrections, Keep Charlotte Beautiful, and Charlotte County Public Works to restore over a dozen locations along the “Carpet Trail”. These locations were polluted with an excessive amount of debris from homeless camps and dumping.

During this operation, the teams collected more than 100 yards of debris, with a weight of over 14,000 pounds (7 tons!).

FDOC provided 3 officers and 9-inmate work crew. Keep Charlotte Beautiful provided cleaning supplies such as gloves, bags, buckets, and other items. CCPW provided 3 containers, a loader, and an operator.

The Charlotte County Signs Department provided “No Trespassing” signs, which we added to the area.

CCSO CPOs managed the operation and cleared the area, also providing education and enforcement.
