NORTH PORT, FL –  Price Boulevard will remain closed to traffic between Salford and Cranberry boulevards this week while repairs continue on a section of the road damaged by heavy weekend rains.

The permanent repairs by a contractor are expected to take several days. This section of Price Boulevard is anticipated to reopen Friday. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes and be patient while the emergency repairs are completed.

Saturday’s rainfall – more than 5.5 inches in about a two-hour window, according to one gauge – significantly undermined the ground below the roadway. Price Boulevard was closed Monday afternoon after a depression was discovered in the road.

The damage occurred at the McCaughey Waterway, but on the opposite side from where the City previously made repairs following Hurricane Ian.

The Price Boulevard Widening Project is in the design phase and is planned to go out to bid in early 2024 for construction and long-term improvements. The much-anticipated project will ease congestion on this key roadway and make it more resilient in the event of future storms.
