Venice Police work with Newport Police to arrest a man for sexual assault of a minor relative

Venice Police Criminal Investigations Division assisted investigators from Newport (NH) Police with the investigation and arrest of Dylan Scott McNamara (DOB 05/04/99) for the sexual assault of a minor relative in their city. It’s alleged he provided alcohol to a minor relative and sexually assaulted her after she was inebriated.
Newport PD contacted Venice PD Investigators after learning the suspect relocated to Venice during their investigation. Our Detectives were able to contact the suspect at his place of work and accompanied McNamara back to Venice Police Headquarters. During a lawful interview, Venice Detectives obtained a full confession detailing the sexual offenses committed. Our findings were relayed to Newport Detectives who secured a warrant for his arrest and we arrested him. He is being held at Sarasota County Jail awaiting extradition to New Hampshire.
