County and private utility personnel had been to the site prior to the report of the collapsed manhole and the structure was sound at that time. The manhole has been isolated. Approximately 48,000 gallons for raw wastewater was discharged into a storm water ditch immediately adjacent to the manhole. Utility crews blocked off the storm water ditch at 17th Street and completely contained the spill. Tanker trucks began pulling from the ditch and 144,000 gallons of water was removed from the ditch.
