Suncoast man gets 35 years for a homicide in 2020

Ed Brodsky announced today that JESSIE HERNANDEZ was sentenced to 35 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of Probation. He was convicted of Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon. The homicide was committed on 2/14/20 and was investigated by the Bradenton Police Department.

 

On 2/14/20, the Defendant believed the Victim, Mr. Rene Balditt, was having an affair with his girlfriend. Mr. Hernandez confronted Mr. Balditt about the accusation while the two were working on a Bucket Lift approximately 30-40 feet off the ground, ultimately stabbing Mr. Balditt numerous times in his neck and causing his death.

 

The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney Dickey Hough commented,

 
“This case and the loss of Mr. Balditt have had a significant impact on his family, and we can only hope that Mr. Hernandez being held accountable for his actions provides them some measure of justice.”
