The Legacy Trail Segment 3 ribbon cutting celebration was today

City of Sarasota: LEGACY TRAIL – City Commissioners joined Sarasota County Government today to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the extension of the Legacy Trail to Payne Park – City of Sarasota! We’re excited that the hundreds of thousands of trail users can now safely and easily get to the city, and we’re working on future extensions that will connect to even more areas of Sarasota and beyond!

#SRQCounty held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for Segment 3 of The Legacy Trail northern extension, completing the connection of continuous paved trail from the Venice Train Depot to Payne Park in downtown Sarasota. This marks the completion of the entire northern extension.
On Thursday, the Sarasota Springs Trailhead, 4012 Webber St., Sarasota, also officially opened. This trailhead has a restroom building, two picnic shelters, parking and a playground with a play structure for children ages 2 to 5 and a swing set for children ages 5 to 12. The Pompano Trailhead, 601 S. Pompano Ave., Sarasota, is expected to open summer 2022 with the North Port Connector expected to open in fall 2022.
