Sarasota’s January 6th Homicide Suspect Arrested in Mississippi

Johnny Evans, 22, has been arrested in Greenville, Mississippi, in connection to the shooting death of a man on January 6, 2022, in the 1900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Way, Sarasota.  The name of the victim is being withheld under Marsy’s Law. 


 
Evans was arrested by the United States Marshals Service on Friday, February 25, 2022, in Mississippi.  Evans will return to Sarasota to face murder charges in connection to this investigation.

Tierra Driver, 26, of Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing charges of Accessory After The Fact (Murder).  This is in connection to a homicide that happened just after midnight on Thursday, January 6, 2021, in the 1900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Sarasota.

 

Sarasota Police detectives are continuing to search for Johnny D. Evans, 22, in connection to the homicide on Jan. 6th.  An arrest warrant for a charge of murder has been issued for him.  His last known address is 1550 North Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota.  Two photos of Evans are attached.  Evans is 6’1” and 170lbs and is considered armed and dangerous.  Sarasota Police detectives believe Evans may be out of the state of Florida and in Mississippi.

 

Driver, who is the girlfriend of Evans, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 12th, after Sarasota Police detectives say she withheld information on the whereabouts of Evans and drove Evans out of the state of Florida.
