Sarasota County Expands the Emergency Rental Assistance Program

The expansion increases the number of months for assistance from 15-18 months and increases the amount of money the county has for distribution under the American Rescue Plan Act.

Sarasota County is a recipient of U.S. Department of the Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance funding.

Eligible households may receive up to 18 months of assistance. Households may reapply for additional assistance at the end of the three-month period as long as the applicant remains eligible and funding is available.

Sarasota County is currently accepting applications and will process applications in the order in which they were received.

 

 


Household Eligibility:

  • Renting households at or below 80% area median income (AMI) facing homelessness or housing instability due to inability to pay rent and/or utilities during or due to the COVID-19 pandemic (March 13, 2020 – present). Such households must be able to demonstrate their impact.

  • Rental assistance provided to an eligible household should not be duplicative of any other federally funded rental assistance provided to such household.

Note: Applicants who receive funding through the State’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program, OUR Florida, are not eligible to receive funding through Sarasota County’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
