City of Sarasota commissioner shows some interest in banning leaf blowers after a citizen notes some concerns

Hi D…..

Thank you for your email concerning leaf blowers in the City and a potential ordinance addressing this.

I have copied the City Attorney and City Manager to please provide me with any basic information on other cities (Miami, Naples, LBK?) in Florida banning leaf blowers (gas powered only?) or regulating their hours, so I may be better in formed on the topic.

I have copied other constituents on this email who have also brought this to my attention recently as well.

This could also be in line with the City’s Ready for 100 goals as well.
Thanks again and I’ll be in touch,
Jen
PS Alexya, could you make a “group” contact of those on this email chain for me please so I can get back in touch once I have more information?

Dear Commissioner Ahearn-Koch:

I would like you to give some consideration to a city wide ban on gas powered leaf blowers.   As you know, they are very polluting and extremely noisy.  They are used by every lawn service company and we end up listening to them all day long.

Other cities have banned them.  Sarasota should be next.

Sincerely,    Donald xxxx MD,
