Davion King, 14, of Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing charges of Murder, a felony, in connection to the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy Friday night.  Per F.S.S. 985.04 (2) (a) 1., information about juveniles charged with felonies is public record.

On December 10, 2021, just before 10 p.m., Sarasota Police officers responded to 1518 29th Street, Sarasota, for a report of a shooting.  When officers arrived, they found a young boy dead inside the home.

One juvenile told Sarasota Police detectives that he was with King at the home before the shooting.  The juvenile told detectives he was hanging out with King and the victim inside the utility room of King’s home.  The juvenile said he saw the victim holding a firearm and King was holding another firearm.  The juvenile told detectives that King was sitting on the chair inside the utility room and the victim was standing up in front of King.

The juvenile later said he received a phone call from King telling him that the victim is dead.  The juvenile said the next day, King called him and told him that he put a gun in the rear of an abandoned house across the street.  The juvenile told detectives that King wanted him to go get the gun but refused.  Following the interview with the juvenile, Sarasota Police detectives went to the abandoned home and found a black plastic bag with a firearm inside.

Based on multiple witness statements and physical evidence, King was arrested just after 3 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021.  The case remains under investigation.  Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 941-263-6070 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS or online at www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com
