New Year’s street closures begin | City of Sarasota

Temporary street closures have started in downtown Sarasota for the New Year’s Eve celebration and Pineapple Drop.

Streets are scheduled to reopen by 9 a.m. New Year’s Day.

 

Impacted streets, dates and times:

  • Pineapple Ave. from 1st Street to roundabout:  12/29/21  9 a.m. – 1/1/22  9 a.m.
  • 1st Street from Pineapple Ave. to Central Ave.:   12/29/21  9 a.m. – 1/1/22  9 a.m.
  • Central Ave. from 1st Street to roundabout:  12/29/21  9 a.m. – 1/1/22  9 a.m.
  • State Street from Lemon Ave. to State Street Parking Garage:  12/31/21  4 a.m. – 1/1/22 9 a.m.
  • Main Street from Orange Ave to roundabout:  12/31/21  4 a.m. – 1/1/22  9 a.m.
  • Lemon Ave. from 1st Street to Pineapple Ave:  12/31/21  4 a.m. – 1/1/22  9 a.m.

 

The New Year’s Eve celebration and Pineapple Drop kicks off on December 31 at 1 p.m. with amusement rides and games at Selby Five Points Park, live music at Main St. and Lemon Ave., food, drinks and full bar concessions – followed by a fantastic firework display on Sarasota Bay! Performances by Big Night Out, Randy McNeeley and The Dr. Dave Band from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
