Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a shooting in North Port last night

Around 9:30 this evening NPPD received a call in reference to a shooting in the 8400 block of Chesapeake Avenue. We are now conducting a homicide investigation. A female is deceased at this location. A potential suspect who is known to the deceased is currently detained. This appears to be an isolated incident. There is no threat to the surrounding community. More info to come.
