Jacksonville man arrested for burglary in North Port

Quick action leads to a quick arrest. 30-year-old Leotis Lester of Jacksonville has been charged with three felonies. Included are Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Grand Theft. This past weekend Lester broke into a home off Lady Slipper Avenue, an area recently flooded. The homeowner noticed someone in the house, got out, and called NPPD.
Within minutes, our officers were on scene detaining the thief who had filled multiple trash bags with items valued in the thousands. Lester initially gave a fake name, but his identity was ultimately uncovered. He currently has a number of outstanding warrants from outside our area.
Lester is currently in the Sarasota County Jail.
