VPD
Friday morning our marine unit along with Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff’s Office marine unit and Sea Tow responded 14 miles west of the Venice Inlet to rescue three persons that were diving and fishing, when their 19′ boat capsized. Once on scene all three persons were transferred from the Good Sam boat onto our patrol boat. As we were evaluating the rescued subjects one of them was experiencing medical issues. We quickly transported them back to shore where he was evaluated and released by EMS. Sea Tow Venice was able to upright the vessel and tow it back to the boat ramp were the owner was waiting and relieved it was saved. Venice Police marine unit would like to remind all boaters to always check their safety equipment before going out on the water and be sure to have a working marine VHF marine radio.
