Florida Surgeon General Slams Gov’s “Biased” Data on Trans Kids: “It Was Never About Healthcare, It Was About Injecting Political Ideology Into the Health of our Children”

Florida’s Surgeon General has raised alarm over the Federal Government’s data on how to treat kids with gender dysphoria, concluding the effort was “never about health care.”
“The Federal Government’s medical establishment releasing guidance failing at the most basic level of academic rigor shows that this was never about health care,” said State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo Wednesday. “It was about injecting political ideology into the health of our children.”
“Children experiencing gender dysphoria should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”
Ladapo gave his statement alongside the release of his state’s official guidance on the issue.
The document itself makes clear it exists to serve as a counter to the Federal government’s “biased” data that’s loaded with “low-quality” evidence.
“The Florida Department of Health wants to clarify evidence recently cited on a fact sheet released by the US Department of Health and Human Services and provide guidance on treating gender dysphoria for children and adolescents.
Systematic reviews on hormonal treatment for young people show a trend of low-quality evidence, small sample sizes, and medium to high risk of bias. A paper published in the International Review of Psychiatry states that 80% of those seeking clinical care will lose their desire to identify with the nonbirth sex. One review concludes that ‘hormonal treatments for transgender adolescents can achieve their intended physical effects, but evidence regarding their psychosocial and cognitive impact is generally lacking.‘”
One of the major messages of Florida’s guidance is anyone under 18 should not be prescribed puberty blockers or hormone therapy.
Florida’s guidance on the issue can be seen in its entirety below.

Conversely, just yesterday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki cried on camera when discussing the rise of “harsh and cruel” laws that target LGBTQ+ communities, particularly in Florida.

“The political games and harsh and cruel attempts at laws, or laws that we’re seeing in some states like Florida, that is not a reflection of the country moving to oppose LGBTQ+ communities,” said Psaki on the Podcast News Not Noise released Tuesday. “That is not what we see in data, that is not factual, and that is not where things stand. This is a political wedge issue, and an attempt to win a culture war.”
It remains to be seen if Psaki will use her station to go over in detail the scientific findings of Florida’s Department of Health.
