SCSO: We are humbled to introduce the community we serve to our own Deputy Mubarak. Over the course of several years, Deputy Mubarak served as an Afghan interpreter and combat linguist alongside our U.S. Special Forces. His intelligence work is highly regarded by the military and U.S. Marines, in particular. In this video, you will learn more about Deputy Mubarak and how, thanks to Sheriff Hoffman and a few others, 33 of Deputy Mubarak’s family members who were in imminent danger from Taliban retribution, were able to make it to the airport during the Taliban takeover. These 33 Afghan refugees who have been granted Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) are now on their way to Sarasota where we are calling on our community to create a network of support for our new residents.
