Following the release of new CDC guidelines, CNN reported that Americans who have taken the coronavirus vaccine are being granted “limited freedoms”, prompting a backlash on social media.
The CDC issued guidelines Monday that state people who have been vaccinated more than two weeks ago are now allowed to visit other people indoors.
#COVID19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. Based on what we know, people who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some things that they had stopped doing because of the pandemic. To learn more, visit: https://t.co/FJMon7WlFO. pic.twitter.com/AjnGbe62us

CNN gleefully announced that Americans now have some “limited freedoms,” along with a whole host of rules that they must still adhere to:
Needless to say, the headline did not go down well with anyone who still believes in the Bill of Rights:
Horrible framing. CDC doesn't "give" freedom. CDC gives **advice** on limiting infectious diseases, which everybody else must weigh against additional evidence and other individual and societal priorities. https://t.co/4vo0TpJvp5

Thanks be to the great state above. The CDC has benevolently chosen to grant we mere mortals some limited freedoms. They deserve our most humble gratitude. What we do & where would we be without them? https://t.co/BUyUAWcops

I can't fault the CDC for how CNN words its tweets, but it's alarming if a news organization believes an unelected government agency is in the business of "giving … freedoms," limited or not. A completely separate question, by the way, from whether the guidance itself is sound.

"CDC gives limited freedoms to fully vaccinated"I don't know about you but I've got all my freedoms without being vaccinated???
obviously the narrative will be vaccination IDs… yet one more way to control us, more checks and balances?☹ pic.twitter.com/THGvL8i4ft
