Parent is concerned with a a Covid vaccine assignment given to her child at a Sarasota County School

I thought this might be something you’d be interested in sharing. this is an assignment for a sixth grade class here in Sarasota. Kids are expected to do five pages front and back of research about the covid vaccines. They will then debate in class whether kids taking the covid vaccine should be a requirement to attend school. I think this is so controversial right now and an inappropriate assignment. Adults can’t even argue about this without fighting each other and then stalking each other. I think this will create a big rift between kids and class. Especially the ones that come from homes that are 100% on board with vaccinations and masks and isolating.

 

I was talking with my friend about this debate and she had a great point are they going to have medical experts there to monitor what these kids are talking about? It’s just so controversial they might as well have the kids arguing abortion or the science behind transgender people. We’re wondering if this was handed to the teacher from the teachers union
