Earl and Gary talk “Old Betsy” for a ride around town

Earl Midlam and Gary Youngberg took “Old Betsy,” the City’s 1926 LaFrance firetruck, out for a short drive this past weekend to locations including the Venetian Waterway Trail, Venice Train Depot and William H. Jervey Jr. Venice Public Library. Earl, a former City Council Member and firefighter who drives Old Betsy during events and oversees the vehicle’s upkeep, is working with Venice Heritage to raise funds for a display building to house the antique firetruck, which would be located across from the Venice Museum on the Cultural Campus of East Blalock Park.
