Biden Flip-Flops Again: COVID Plan “Starts With a Mask Mandate Nationwide”
Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden once again changed his mind regarding whether or not he’d implement a nationwide mask mandate after being elected.
After initially calling for mandatory masks in August, the Biden campaign quickly reversed their stance.
A month later, Biden publicly admitted a mask mandate would be a “constitutional issue,” and accepted that he couldn’t constitutionally do it.
“But here’s the deal,” he said. “The federal government — there’s a constitutional issue whether federal government could issue such a mandate. I don’t think constitutionally they could, so I wouldn’t issue a mandate.”
Now, with only 12 days left before the election, Joe Biden is tossing the Constitution by the wayside and is once again saying he’d force every American to wear a face mask if elected president.
Joe spoke with WISN-ABC on Tuesday where he revealed he is back on the mandatory mask bandwagon.
“Take responsibility,” Biden said, referring to president Trump. “This president says it’s not his responsibility. The federal government’s role is [to] have a national response to tackle this national pandemic. But Donald Trump took no responsibility, failed and continues to fail to do that.”
“I put my plan out in March. You can read it all online, go to JoeBiden.com and it starts with a mask mandate nationwide,” Biden stated.
Sure enough, the mandatory mask mandate is on JoeBiden.com as seen in the screenshot below.
The Biden/Harris campaign website calls for “mask mandates nationwide by working with governors and mayors and by asking the American people to do what they do best: step up in a time of crisis.”
The campaign claims, “If 95% of Americans wear masks between now and December, we can save almost 70,000 lives.”
“It depends on the state of the nature of the vaccine when it comes out and how it’s being distributed,” Biden said. “But I think that we should be talking about, depending on the continuation of the spread of the virus, we should be thinking about making it mandatory.”
Two-thirds of Americans oppose taking a coronavirus vaccine, and that number would likely be larger if it was mandatory.
Meanwhile, top Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer blamed Trump for lockdowns and mask, telling people to vote for Biden if they’re “tired” of those things.
“If you’re tired of lockdowns or you’re tired of wearing masks or you wish you were in church this morning or watching college football or your kids were in-person instruction, it is time for a change in this country, and that’s why we’ve got to elect Joe Biden,” Whitmer said on “Meet The Press” Sunday.
