Venice Police warn the public about a scam hitting the area, asking for thousands to avoid arrest

Several Venice residents have reported receiving calls from an individual posing as a Venice PD Officer telling them they have an warrant and must pay several thousands of dollars in order to avoid arrest. These scammers are even using real Venice PD Officers names. To be clear, Venice PD will never contact you demanding money in-lieu of arrest. If you receive one of these calls, do not fall victim. Instead, please contact your local law enforcement agency and make a report.
