NORTH PORT, FL – With hurricane season beginning June 1, the City of North Port is hosting a Hurricane Expo on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the George Mullen Activity Center (GMAC), 1602 Kramer Way.
Whether you’re new to hurricanes or are a seasoned pro, this event will provide even more insight to how to prepare for a storm and learn from officials about emergency response.
Presentations will be given by the National Weather Service, North Port Emergency Management and Sarasota County Emergency Management. Stormwater management and other City departments will also be on hand to speak to their role in preparing for and responding to hurricanes.
The expo-style event will also feature booths with window and shutter businesses, volunteer organizations like Red Cross and Kiwanis, and many more.
Bring the whole family to this informational and fun event. Casa de Uruguay and Mr. Ed’s Ice Cream will be on hand selling some food to enjoy while you check out the displays outside, including Florida Power & Light’s response trailer and the Department of Public Works’ airboat and high water vehicle.
