To loosely quote Forrest Gump, “working as a firefighter is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” That was the case on Monday, when Engine 73, C-shift responded to a call for a vehicle sinking at the Manasota Beach boat ramp.
Upon arrival at the boat ramp the crew found a white Ford Explorer submerged nearly to the drivers window due to a mishap while launching a boat.
Thankfully no one was injured. The driver said he lost traction on the slick ramp and was unable to drive his vehicle out of the water.
Our crew helped the driver out of his vehicle, chalked the wheel to keep it from moving further down the ramp and stood by until a tow truck arrived to pull it out of the water.
