Sarasota Police investigating an overnight shooting

The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Gillespie Avenue early this morning. At approximately 1 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area.

One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. Details are limited at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
