STRUCTURE SOUND: The City of Venice was notified this morning of potential building issues at 555 The Esplanade N., Gulf Horizons condominiums. Venice Police and Venice Fire Rescue responded. A contractor staying at the facility noticed water flowing from the top of the building and felt it warranted evacuation of the residents. The City Building Department dispatched inspectors to the location and began performing damage assessments. It was determined that multiple water lines were broken, and water had been free-flowing. Venice Fire shut off the water to the building and began evacuating the 7-10 people staying there, who were all relocated. FPL was contacted to de-energize the building for safety reasons. Once the water can be isolated, power can be restored.

Again, this was determined to be a water event, not a structural event. If you notice what appears to be structural damage to your building following #HurricaneMilton, please notify the City Building Dept. at 941-882-7547 for a courtesy inspection.
