City of Sarasota, FL (Aug. 27, 2024): The City of Sarasota is seeking public input through a brief online survey and public meetings to help guide the development of an economic development strategic plan.

The Office of Economic Development (OED) is conducting an Economic Development Market Analysis & Visioning for the City including its business districts and neighborhoods. From Sept. 4 through Sept. 6, the OED will hold meetings with business owners, residents and local economic development partners to understand perspectives on the potential economic development future of the city.

There will be a total of six upcoming meetings to engage with a variety of stakeholders. For meeting details visit www.Sarasotafl.gov/OED-Visioning.

An online economic development survey also is available to the public through Friday, Sept. 13. Take the survey here.

“We want to continue to be a world-class community where people remain eager to invest, live, work and play,” said Economic Development Manager Wayne Applebee. “This is an opportunity for businesses and residents to share their ideas. The survey and public meetings are designed to facilitate the creation of a shared, realistic vision that reflects the overall community.”

Public input along with an analysis of data on current and anticipated market conditions will form the foundation for an economic development strategic plan, which will incorporate goals and activities to balance market feasibility with economic vibrancy and regulatory efficiency.

The project is anticipated to be completed in October 2024.
