NPPD Update

This week the North Port Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence Division arrested Thomas Eugen Szymanski (79) on 42 Felony counts of Possessing Child Pornography. Some of the images included children as young as 1-year-old.

Those taking part in these types of activities should know that we are working with all the technology companies and using every resource through the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to hunt you down.

“Our dedicated detectives will pursue these individuals relentlessly, and we will utilize every available resource to ensure that they are held accountable for their heinous crimes against children. Protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities is our highest priority,” says North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison.

Szymanski is currently in the Sarasota County Jail with no bond.

The arrest report is a bit deceiving.  If you click through the booking number, you will see that Thomas was arrested on 42 counts of possessing child pornography.  Looks like a situation where he downloaded the material from a website and was arrested, after the authorities were alerted.
