CITY OF NORTH PORT, FL – In alignment with neighboring communities and in preparation for the upcoming storm season, the City of North Port is hosting a sandbag station on July 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in anticipation of the expected rain event this week.
Residents are invited to pick up free sand and sandbags at the self-serve station located behind the George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way, where sand has traditionally been distributed in past years. There is a limit of 10 bags per vehicle, which will be enforced and monitored.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels, as only a limited number will be available on site.
After use, and once the sandbags are dry, store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Properly stored sandbags will be ready for use next year or whenever needed.
