Sarasota County: On Tuesday, May 13, Sarasota County broke ground on the Advanced Wastewater Treatment (AWT) Conversion and Expansion project at Venice Gardens Water Reclamation Facility. This is the second of Sarasota County’s Water Reclamation Facility to be converted to AWT, with Sarasota County’s Bee Ridge AWT conversion project expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The Venice Gardens project will expand the facility’s capacity from treating 3 million gallons of wastewater per day to treating 6 million gallons per day, and will reduce nutrient runoff, protecting the water quality of our Sarasota County bays.
