SCSO Makes Drug and Weapons Arrest in Nokomis

On Thursday June 19, 2025, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Special Investigations Section (SIS) executed a search warrant of 742 Church Street, Nokomis. The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Tactical Unit (TAC), and Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), with the assistance of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) served the search warrant at the residence. Present during the service of the search warrant was Eddie L. Outing, DOB 09/21/84.

 

During a search of the residence, detectives located 28.8 grams of rock cocaine, 22.2 grams of powder cocaine, a loaded Glock 9mm pistol, a loaded AR-15 rifle, and 9mm, and .223 caliber ammunition.  Outing was charged with one count of Trafficking in Cocaine and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

 

Outing has an extensive criminal history with multiple felony convictions and is designated as a Federal Armed Career Criminal (ACC).

 

 “This was another outstanding collaboration between all the units involved.  I’m proud we were able to get two illegally possessed firearms off the street,” said Sheriff Hoffman.
