Community Heroes in Action: Truck Plunges into Oyster Creek

Friday afternoon, a pickup truck drove into Oyster Creek at the private Mobile Gardens boat ramp off Via Deluna and sank. Thanks to the swift response of nearby residents, one of whom was returning to the dock at just the right moment, the driver was rescued from the water before his truck submerged completely.

EFD Engine 71, Truck 75, Battalion 7, along with Charlotte County Fire & EMS Rescue 4 and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, arrived promptly on the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Prompt Towing Service responded and successfully removed the vehicle from the creek.
