Englewood Beach Progress Update on opening back up

Here’s a glimpse of where we’ve been and where we’re going — we know everyone is eager to get back to Englewood Beach!

 

🌀 Post Hurricane Milton Sand Operation

 

•Immediately after the storm, the Public Works department staffed a sand collection, sifting, beach placement operation to assist the residents and businesses on Manasota Key in storm recovery
•Public Works assisted in demolition of damaged amenities at Englewood Beach Park concurrent to the sand operation to expedite this process and reduce costs of project
• Englewood Beach Park was turned over to Community Services to begin site inspection and recovery efforts in mid-March
• Englewood beach was never closed, only the damaged park areas at Englewood Beach Park

 

✅ Phase 1 is complete, and included:
✅ Parking and public access to the southern section of Englewood Beach Park
✅ Pilot Park-n-Ride Circulator from Tringali Park to Chadwick Park
✅ A public ‘walk out’ access point on the north end of Englewood Beach Park
✅ Chadwick Park available for public parking and use
✅ Restroom amenities will be provided by temporary services
✅ This phase was completed the first week of April
🚧 Phase 2 is in progress, and included:
✅ Full environmental fencing of park with windscreen
✅ Removal of damaged boardwalk
✅ Stormwater clean out
✅ Requests for proposals for sitework, concrete, curbing and asphalt
✅ Pre-construction meetings with concrete & curbing vendor
✅ Notice to proceed for concrete & curbing vendor
🚧 Vendor to began concrete & curbing work Thursday, May 29
🚧 Asphalt work will begin upon completion of concrete and curbing
🚧 Restroom amenities will be provided by temporary services
