As the nation gears up for the 250th birthday of the United States, the Venice Museum joins museums and statehouses around the country to remember the anniversary of the famous ride of Paul Revere. On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere, after seeing two lights hung in the steeple of the Old North Church in Boston, Mass., began a midnight ride to Lexington and Concord to warn that British forces were crossing the Charles River toward those towns.
The Two Lights for Tomorrow initiative is spearheaded by several states’ 250th commissions to encourage people to join together in ways that make us a more perfect union. On the evening of Friday, April 18, places across the country will display two lights in solidarity. The Venice Museum will place two lights in its own “steeple,” the turret of the Triangle Inn, 351 Nassau St. S., in recognition of this historic anniversary
