Hello!

Today we had a discussion with our certified industrial hygienist(CIH) in regards to his findings so far. Although he has stated rooms are clear for occupancy, he has made several recommendations. We hope that these recommendations will help to improve the school’s indoor air quality. A summary of the recommendations includes the following:

-AC systems: All portable AC systems will be cleaned.  Building 1 AC systems will be re cleaned along with duct work.  Our air conveyance cleaning vendor will be cleaning and sanitizing these systems after hours to prevent classroom disruption. Once cleaned we will have our Certified industrial hygienist re inspect to verify proper cleaning.

-Surface sample results have been received. Surface samples were taken in rooms 123, 121 and 138. These areas were determined based on our CIH’s visual inspection.  There was a discolored paper material area behind drywall  (next to exterior door) when destructive testing was completed inside room 138 that he is recommending remediation based on results. Result details will be in final report. We are having our remediation contractor reopen the wall and replace the affected material. This will also be overseen by our CIH.

-Dust mite sample results have  come back as low-level antigens. He explained that this should not be a cause of symptoms.
-Sewer odors: An exhaust fan was found to be missing in the restroom of 138. A new one has been added. We will be sending someone to be on site early mornings to see if they will notice and find a source of the sewer/gas odor of mention.
-C02: A few classrooms and portables will have additional outside air brought in to improve C02.
-Carpet: one area of stained carpet to be replaced/cleaned in hallway outside of 123 and 121.

OHC will continue to complete visual and destructive inspections, as this air quality investigation is not complete.  A detailed report of his findings, recommendations and sampling results (so far) will be available within the next couple of days. We will be sending it over for your review. We would also like to have our CIH on site for discussion. A meeting is to be scheduled. As always feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
