Sarasota Police Department Responding to Individual in Crisis on John Ringling Bridge

Sarasota, FL – [April 30, 2025] – The Sarasota Police Department is currently on scene assisting an individual experiencing a crisis on the John Ringling Bridge. Multiple specialized units are actively involved, including Crisis Negotiation, Drone, Marine & Dive, and the Mobile Command Center, all working together to ensure the individual’s safety.
At this time, westbound lanes heading toward St. Armands remain open. One eastbound lane, heading toward the mainland, is also open. We understand this is a major travel route and we appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation.
We ask the public to avoid the area and allow first responders to manage the situation without interruption. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of the individual involved and all those on scene.
