North Port Police make an arrest involving the shooting which occurred near the Flats

On Saturday, April 5, a shooting occurred near the Flats at Sundown. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was connected to the sale of illegal narcotics. Three individuals from outside the area were previously arrested in connection with the case.

Over the past week, the North Port Police Department has continued to investigate others who may have been involved. Late Thursday evening, detectives arrested 21-year-old George Muncan of North Port. He is facing charges including attempted murder and discharging a firearm in public.

“We work hard every day to protect our residents and uphold the law. If your intentions involve committing crimes in our community—don’t come here. You will be held accountable. Together, we stand strong to keep North Port safe for everyone,” says Chief Todd Garrison.
