On Tuesday, the North Port Police Department arrested 23-year-old Cameron Carpenter of North Port on a felony charge of Video Voyeurism.
Over the weekend, NPPD received a report of an incident at Hobby Lobby, where an unidentified male was observed using his cell phone to secretly take photos up the dress of an unsuspecting female shopper. A witness noticed the suspicious behavior and promptly informed the victim. When confronted, the suspect denied the allegations and quickly left the store.
Detectives launched an investigation and reviewed store surveillance footage, which captured the incident. Utilizing advanced technology, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Mr. Carpenter. He was taken into custody and booked into the Sarasota County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.
