Air quality consultant is brought into Garden Elementary in Venice, after multiple staffers and students experience health issues

I received a call today from a staffer that works at Venice’s Garden Elementary school today and the individual shared some disturbing information with me.

According to the individual, several teachers and others have been diagnosed with lupus, allergies, rashes, headaches, and cancer.  Many, including the individual I talked to believe their ailments stem from their work at the school.

The school system has sent their director of facilities management to figure out if their illnesses relate to their work at Garden elementary school.   Additionally, the school system has hired an air quality consultant, who is running tests now.  He is supposed to begin interviews with staff on Monday and hopes to have results within a couple weeks.  The staffers are concerned that there may be a built-in bias with the testing, since the consultant was hired and is being paid by the school district, which many of the staffers feel bear responsibility for their illnesses.

Staff are not alone when it comes to health issues.  The staffer I talked to, stated that many kids have come down with multiple issues.

The staff person I talked to is very concerned about her health, the health of her fellow staffers and the students.  She is currently presenting a multitude of health issues and firmly believes they stem from her work at school.  Thoughts?
