On Tuesday, March 4, at approximately 4:05 p.m., a traffic crash with injuries/pedestrian struck was dispatched over communications to any available Venice Police units. The crash was reported to have just occurred on Knights Trail at the intersection of Triple Diamond Blvd.

Upon officer arrival, Venice Fire Rescue was present on scene administering aid to the 54-year-old male victim. Just further north on Knights Trail, a gray vehicle was observed, pulled over and awaiting officer response. Fire Rescue further indicated the incident to be a trauma alert and for Bayflite helicopter response. A landing zone was established at the SMH Venice campus.

The male victim was working construction between the property line of Toscana Isles and Knights Trail. He was actively working traffic flow with a stop sign displayed when he was struck head on by the vehicle. A crime scene was immediately established as well as traffic pattern redirected, and witnesses were interviewed.

The male victim is in serious but stable condition. The crash is still an active investigation.
